Introduction

BioNET is a new bio-treatment system based on porous bio-carriers. The media for the growth of microorganisms is porous carrier. This porous carrier has the advantages of great SS interception, large surface area for microorganism growth and generation of specific species bio-film. BioNET has been proven that it can be used in the treatment of secondary water and nitrogen compounds and has the advantages of high effluent quality and reduction of physic-chemistry treatment cost such as activated carbon adsorption and chemical oxidation.

The carriers are granular, porous and compressible. The porosity is more than 95% and the density is around 1.0. The carriers with bio-film are suspended in the reactor and the distance between carriers are also adjusted by flow rate spontaneously. This design has advantages of low friction, clog prevention and gas and liquid homogenization.

The characteristics of BioNET are:

  1. The porous carriers offer great SS interception and promote the stability of fluid.
  2. The porous carriers offer large surface area for microorganism growth to treat different pollutants.
  3. High loading, high efficiency and high stability.
  4. Easy to acclimatize specific microorganism.
  5. Easy to operate.
  6. The costs of porous carrier and submerged filter are almost the same, but the efficiency of porous carrier is double than submerged filter.

Application

  1. To set after secondary bio-treatment system to remove the refractory organics to lower the cost of tertiary treatment.
  2. Removal of organics, NH3-N or NO3-N in polluted water used as raw water of drinking water plant.
  3. Removal of organics, NH3-N or NO3-N in underground water remediation.
